trying to scan something into my computer with my printer/scanner?

but it keeps coming up with the error message that says “USB not connected” but the thing that plugs into the USB is indeed plugged into the USB and it will allow me to print things but not scan them so what’s up?

Can anyone help me with my Canon ip4200 printer please?

The printer is not working at all. Running Windows Vista, when the computer is started or printer turned on the error message ‘USB device not recognized.’ ‘One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.’ I have unistalled and reinstalled, downloaded new driver – any other ideas? Was working yesterday and OK for the past few months.
