bluejinxx asked:

Hi All,
I just got the HP photosmart 5280 today and the main reason I got it was so that I could scan all my photos in to my computer. Heres the problem. Everytime I try to scan a 5 by 7 photo I end up with a large image of white wtih a photo in the corner. I understand the scanner bed is larger than my photos but is there anyway to save just the image and avoid the 75 percent of the screen that is empty? I just want to save an image that looks like a photo. not a sheet of paper with a picture taped to the corner (which is more or less what the result looks like).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

My scanner should be delivered soon at my house. The thing is, I need help BEFOREHAND with installing it. I know that it comes with an installation CD and manual but I have read reviews saying that I need to download the software from the company’s website PRIOR to inserting the usb cable in my computer hub. This is a link of the scanner that I bought:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=product&tab=7&id=1186006604397&skuId=8517866&childSku=null&count=null

PLEASE NOTE: I have VISTA home premium and the last time that I tried hooking an hp all in one scanner/copier/printer it wouldn’t recognize it at all, even after I installed the software from the website, which was after the CD was installed and the usb plugged in. So please, if anyone can give me step by step instructions on what I need to do before I install the CD or plug in the usb cable then please do so! Thanks!
I have a desktop. I don’t understand, with as many hubs as I have and with the purpose of the usb cable, why it wouldn’t recognize it. I don’t want to have to spend money on more stuff to add to my computer. No offense, I just don’t understand.

Ok, so it’s a good idea to download software from the Canon site first and then installing the CD and following it’s instructions from there?
Ok thank-you! Both of you. If I have any questions I will send you a message.Submited by:some agnostic person
