Can I use a diff brand ink cartridge than suggested?

Posted by Printer | Posted in Printers | Posted on 04-04-2010

I have a canon printer that uses FINE ink. Is there an HP cartridge that is compatible? Or maybe a web site that shows which cartridges made by each company really are the same product with a different label.

How can I conserve ink with my computer printer?

Posted by Printer | Posted in Printers | Posted on 04-04-2010

P J asked:

I replaced an HP (one black plus one color cartridge) with a simple EPSON CX3810 printer (copier/scanner) thinking it would conserve ink as each color would be replaced as needed. If a particular color ran out of the older printer’s cartridge, oh well.

Now, it seems like I am replacing cartridges more frequently. I sholuld have figured it out when the cartridges themselves were smaller. I’ve tried printing in the “draft” mode buy can hardly see it.

Someone told me that a laser printer does not use ink. Please advise.

How can I get money for my printer ink (in Chicago)?

Posted by Printer | Posted in Printers | Posted on 03-04-2010

I have a dozen or so empty Epson ink cartridges. Where in the US can I get a good cash or refund value for them (as well as help the environment)?? Staples used to have this great promotion, $3 for every cartridge, but now it’s limited to few original brands. These are NOT original cartridges.
A discount for new cartridges is probably not what I’m looking for, since I’m already getting these for $6 apiece.Submited by:binba

Which multifunction photo printer should I buy — hp 7180, hp 3310, canon MP830? Why?

Posted by Printer | Posted in Printers | Posted on 03-04-2010

I’ve been looking online at various multifunction printers and their reviews. I would like an overall good printer for my home office. I like the hp photo printers because they also have negative/slide scanners included (and I’d like to make digital copies of all the photos from the past 20-30 years). I like the canon printers because they come with very small ink droplet sizes (as small as 1 picoliter). I haven’t seen other printers with as small, which means that the canons should have better photo print quality. I have been reading reviews, but there are lots of people who like and dislike all of them. The requirements I have are: good photo quality, good text quality, multifunction, pictbridge compatible. I’d love to hear your opinions and experience. Thanks.Submited by:chereyes

Which printer setting shoulkd I use to get more ink onto my paper?

Posted by Printer | Posted in Printers | Posted on 03-04-2010

So, it’s a long story to explain, I’ll keep this short. I’m needing for my printer to use a heavier ink load on my paper here. So, I’m wondering which setting I should use for the paper type.

My options are as follows:
Plain
Plain Thick
Covers
covers Thick
Coated
Coated Thick
Label

So which of these would cause the printer to apply more ink?

I realize this may be a strange and vague question, but I do nonetheless need it answered, and all help would be much appreciated.

PS Printer model is Dell MFP Laser 3115cn

looking to purchase a printer, scanner, fax copier and I want to get something sturdy and easy to use, such as installing the ink, a multipaper fax, making pictures, having a lcd screen. I am under the impression that laser jets are alot more expensive.. thanks for your answers

Without too much regard for costs, could anybody recommend a nice printer / fax / scanner? Preferably a laser?

Posted by Printer | Posted in Printers | Posted on 02-04-2010

These inkjets are getting costly, and I’m ready to step up to a laser product, and I need it yesterday.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your answers.
Actually, ‘without too much regards for cost’ means I’m willing to pay a whole lot of money.

So around a $1000 is about the most I’m willing to pay, but thanks for the suggestion.Submited by:Anyone Know?
