My question is how do I network my printer when it is installed on a computer that is not on the same router?

Posted by Printer | Posted in Computer Networking | Posted on 08-04-2010

I have a network set up and networking my printer was not a problem until I set up 3 computers on a router, the router is on the main hub. I have a total of 15 computers however the 3 computers on the router cannot see the other 12 and vice versa because of the router. Someone on my staff who is no longer here had set it up in the past although I received a new HP along with a Brother printer that replaced the old “networked printer” and now I am stumped at how to hook it up again. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

I have a linksys router with internet and a linksys PCI card connected to the laptop. Right now they are using a simle access point, just internet.

But I want a printer and shared folderss. So how do you set up a network, step by step, and how do you make it work?
Ive seen ever video and page and it doen’t help.

I used the default IP to go under my settings to add a wep key.

But so far thats all ive done.

Remember Im using GB mixed.
wrt54gc router.

My definition of a network is one that apears in the network places under “My Network Places” on a PC running windows.

Why can’t my Vista Laptop access another computer on a network?

edeta385 asked:

I have an HP Laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit.

I am working on an office network of about 20 computers. I am currently restricted from accessing certain other computers. I need access to another XP machine on the network that is connected to a Dymo label printer. I cannot install this printer on my computer until I have access to the other XP machine.

On the main server, I went into Active Directory Users and Computers, checked my user properties, and added myself to several groups to be identical to another person who has access to everything I need.

It’s still not giving me access – when I double click the computer on the network, it asks for username and password and does not let me in.
Any suggestions?
I tried changing the domain settings, but it only has a box for workgroup – it says “You cannot join a computer running Windows Vista Home Premium to a domain”

Mortimer Pratchett asked:

The printer is an Okidata 5051c, everyother computer picks it up right away. The issue is that I just hired an assistant, and in the office only one network wire is available, so I bought the usb wireless network thingy. It seems to be picking up 3 diffrent networks and it goes back and forth from one to another, is the device weak, the signal and what do I have to do to pick up the printer?

How can I use a webpage to install a network printer?

Posted by Printer | Posted in Computer Networking | Posted on 11-03-2010

I’d like to make a website with links that a user can click which will install a network printer for them.
Well, if IIS is installed you can provide the user “http://server/printers” and you will get a page with the printers and some options. I want to lock it down a bit and have just the connect link, no need to view the progress.Submited by:maceoruez
