I am working on an office network of about 20 computers. I am currently restricted from accessing certain other computers. I need access to another XP machine on the network that is connected to a Dymo label printer. I cannot install this printer on my computer until I have access to the other XP machine.
On the main server, I went into Active Directory Users and Computers, checked my user properties, and added myself to several groups to be identical to another person who has access to everything I need.
It’s still not giving me access – when I double click the computer on the network, it asks for username and password and does not let me in.
Any suggestions?
I tried changing the domain settings, but it only has a box for workgroup – it says “You cannot join a computer running Windows Vista Home Premium to a domain”
Mortimer Pratchett asked:
The printer is an Okidata 5051c, everyother computer picks it up right away. The issue is that I just hired an assistant, and in the office only one network wire is available, so I bought the usb wireless network thingy. It seems to be picking up 3 diffrent networks and it goes back and forth from one to another, is the device weak, the signal and what do I have to do to pick up the printer?

I am using windows xp, and apparently there is a network printer connected to the network. The only thing is I am using a computer which dont belong to any workgroup or domain. We tried using the IP of the printer to placen in printer address but it just wont work….

anyone have any suggestions? the network workgroup names are correct but I am thinking it is a port issue but who knows?
