I keep getting a window box that pulls up titled “Select Device,” and then in the box the words “The specified location does not contain information about your hardware.” I’ve tried accessing drivers BOTH on the manufacturer’s CD-ROM, and then copying the files to my C:\ and accessing them, there…

HELP!

My PC is 5 years old, and at this point, I’ll probably run out to Circuit CIty and buy the HP AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ package they have on sale this week for $520 (after rebates).

I’ll probably leave by 7:30PM EST to buy a PC, so if you have any thoughts, I’d REALLY appreciate it. Thanks!

P.S. This whole thing started because I couldn’t have my PC communicate with my LXK X3350 3-in-1 printer. The printer works, and I tried another cord last night – to no avail. So, I thought it might be the USB port. So, I got a PCI port with “new” USB 2.0 pors, but the motherboard won’t recognize it / the driver…Submited by:hotstuffktr

retants asked:

I have 2 different devices (a label printer and a digital camara) that work just fine when plugged into one of the USB ports that are built into my computer but don’t work when I plug them into my USB hub. I’m out of internal ports (1 for the keyboard/mouse, 1 for the external disk drive, 1 for the USB hub that still has 2 other devices that work on it and 1 for a printer/fax/scanner device).

Will getting a PCI USB Card resolve this problem? Or do I need to play musical-USB-port with all the devices until I find a solution that works? Or is there a way to beef this up so that these more lightly used devices WILL work with the hub?
The USB Hub is powered and only half full (although that shouldn’t matter).
As I said, the USB hub is powered. So that isn’t the solution.

Will a PCI/Internal card be able to provide more power to the label printer?

All my USB ports are blown on my laptop due to weather. This really sucks. Now I need to buy a new wireless printer . I went online to research wireless printers and get reviews. I have read that you still need USB connection while you are installing a wireless printer. Is this true? Is there a way to install the software without having to use USB. If so, any recommendations on good but inexpensive wireless printers?
Thanks everyone. I have no clue what the heck I’m doing…Anyone know how expensive it is to repair USB ports?

By: Ali that girl

About the Author:
