Need to buy a printer for my laptop but how do I know which one to get?

I recently bought the Sony VAIO Fj270 notebook and now I would like to buy a printer for it to use when necessary. What kind of printer should I be looking for? How do I know if it will be compatible with my notebook? I need someting small but with quality. I’m going off to college this fall with it and I don’t want my printer taking up too much space. Help please!Submited by:sweetbaby0809

a small laser printer HP laserjet1020 or 1022 about $130 but you will save more than $130 on ink vs an inkjet and it is much faster average yield of 2500 pages per toner
since your notebooks rather new,a printer with USB or bluetooth connections will do.since its college,a simple one should do say,a sub US$100 printer should do the trick.Canon makes some nice budget printers, great quality and feature packed too.
check out the iP1600 or iP3000(this one has separate ink tanks).
Depends on your needs.dont even think of using non original cartidges with canon printers though.
Any printer will work if you install the correct drivers. Buy one youy can afford and that meets your needs.
Get an HP laser printer. All you need to do is make sure it is compartible with you OS.
ALL THE PREVIOUS ANSWERS ARE CORRECT MY QUESTION IS THIS WHY DID YOU GET A LAPTOP IF IT WAS BECAUSE YOU WANTED A MOBILE PC THEN I SUGGEST YOU LOOK AT PORTABLE USB PRINTERS SOME EVEN RUN ON BATTERY. EVEN THE SMALLEST LASER PRINTERS ARE NOT VERY PORTABLE
I use a lexmarx Z715 it takes up about a foot and a half wide by about 8 inches deep. Its not as small as say a laptop printer since it was originally my desktop printer. But i have it on top of a small book shelf and it connects to the computer through a usb port, and once the drivers are installed its easy to plug unplug and swtich from computer to computer in my room. I know you worry about space at college but with a laptop you save a lot of space and this printer is really a space saver too. It isnt too expensive either and very fast. I had a 30 page paper and it printed them before i got out of the shower, so its really fast and a space saver. Its also ink efficient which is another big concern
HP laser and ink-jet printers have been known to be the best printers at great prices. And seeing as how you have a new notebook I would go for USB connectivity.
laptop computers can be a rather tricky buy at times, I would suggest that you look out for the cheapest and yet latest desktop on the market,
the best way to do this is on what they call warehouse sale markets some of them are online.
these warehouse owners have a service where they sell laptop computers to normal customers like you and me, however with very reduced prices due to the fact that they do not have as much costs as normal shops do, such as rent and a employees etc. as you know most online shops have rather competitive prices sometimes cutting the laptop price to a half.
one such website for laptop computers is :
